Round cardboard box for the sustainable packaging of Riso Rubio

Riso Rubio is a rice for risottos, grown in Vercelli area – Italy. Davide, who inherited the family business, says: "The field is sown one grain at a time, this sentence said by my grandmother many years ago, has influenced many of my choices. Big goals seem impossible to achieve, but one step at a time, all together, we can change things".

Riso Rubio's environmental commitment includes:
- Collaboration with non-profit local organizations
- CO2 compensation activities
- Avoiding the use of disposable plastic.
- Use of only recyclable and compostable materials.

The choice to avoid single-use plastic, but to use only recyclable and compostable materials, was fundamental in the design phase of the new rice packaging. Riso Rubio has developed two types of sustainable packaging: the standard package and the deluxe paper tube.
Both packaging follows the company philosophy of reducing environmental impact, they are 100% plastic free and 100% recyclable.

The tube is made entirely of cardboard: cap, body and bottom of the round box are all made of paper.
Together with Riso Rubio, we have studied and designed this tube-shaped packaging respecting the environmental sustainability requirements required by the company: only 100% recyclable materials and avoiding the use of plastic. Listening the company’s needs, we created a custom paper tube, both in size and in graphics.

Our round boxes are in fact customizable in diameter and height.

In Tecnopaper, we can create different types of packaging that can be customized in size and materials: it is possible to choose a round container made of 100% cardboard (cap, body and lid) or choose to combine the rigid cardboard tube with metal caps. Both packaging solutions are 100% recyclable:
- the tube with cardboard bottom and cardboard lid will be totally disposed of in separate paper collection;
- the tube with cardboard bottom and metal cap will be differently disposed of: body in the paper, cap in the metal collection.
